The purpose of No One Left Behind is to ensure that financial barriers are not an issue when a child wishes to participate in Scouting in Canada. Your support of No One Left Behind enables children from all walks of life to gain knowledge and skills that will benefit them now and in the future.
Since the program was introduced in 2007, over $230,000 has been distributed to some 3,500 individual youth in direct subsidies.Of these subsidies, 84% were for membership and 16% for participation in various activities.
These children are from inner cities and suburban areas all across Canada. Many of these children come from low income households and from single parent families. These are often the children that benefit the most from the values, skills and experiences offered through Scouting. The opportunity to belong to a group that teaches important life skills, self esteem and community service have a huge impact on these youth.
No One Left Behind is not intended to cover 100% of a child’s Scouting experience. All members must take part in fundraising, and learn about the old Scout Law “a Scout is thrifty” but some children need a boost to top-up their fundraising efforts. No One Left Behind was designed to help pay a portion of the membership fee, uniform, book or subsidize a weekend outing or a trip to summer camp.
Our No One Left Behind program is meeting a very important need by ensuring that any child who wishes to participate in Scouting will not be left behind due to financial hardship.
