NORTHERN LIGHTS SCOUT FOUNDATION
The Northern Lights Scout Foundation provides financial support for Scouting in Northern Lights Council from the revenues generated by the modest investments which it holds for this purpose. The foundations holdings have been acquired over many years through fund raising, donations and bequests and are held to provide an ongoing stream of income for the operation of the Council.
The Foundation is a separate entity from the Northern Lights Scout Council. Any resident of
Alberta who has an interest in the well being of scouting may apply for membership in the Foundation. All registered Scouters in The Council are Associate Members of the Foundation. Members pay no dues, are invited to participate in the annual general meeting in November and but may serve on committees when required. The affairs of the Foundation are administered by a Board of Directors elected at the Annual General Meeting. Ken Nette is the president and the current Northern Lights Council Commissioner sits as a member of the Board of Directors, while the Executive Director serves as the Secretary/treasurer.
The Foundation is a registered charity and issues income tax deductible receipts for all donations made to the Foundation. Donors making a contribution of $1000 or more are recognized by a Companion of the Foundation Medal. All persons who have informed the Foundation that they have included a bequest to the Foundation in their will become members of the Founder’s Circle.
