Call for Nominations for Voting Members
In accordance with Section 1014 of BP&P, Scouts Canada is seeking to elect the three (3) voting representatives to the Scouts Canada Annual Meeting, from each Council.
For each Council, we are seeking:
- 2 Voting Members at Large
- 1 Youth Voting Member
Council Voting Representatives shall serve in such capacity for a one (1) year period commencing on the date of their election and shall be deemed to be a Voting Member for all purposes of this By-law during their tenure as a Council Voting Representative and are entitled to vote at such annual general meetings or special meetings of Members as shall occur during their tenure.
A Candidate must:
- Be an Ordinary Member and be registered and active within the Council that he or she proposes to represent;
- Be nominated in writing by 5 Ordinary Members who are registered with the same Council as the Candidate;
- Have attained the age of 14 years in the calendar year in which the election is conducted.
Nomination forms along with further information are available at www.scouts.ca/elections.
Nominations must be submitted to the Chief Elections Officer no later than Friday, May 25th.

NLC is inviting all members interested in providing training next year to join us for a short retreat. All you need to qualify to attend is enthusiasm, a desire to learn, and a desire to share--both seasoned pros and those who are only starting their training journey are welcome. This 24 hour retreat will kick-start next year's training season though a focus on rebuilding Area-based training teams and briefing attendees on new National training standards, programming, and tools. If you have ever wanted to inspire others in their delivery of the Scouting vision then this is your chance.
When is it? June 8-9, 2012
Where is it? Van Es Campground, a short drive east of Edmonton.

This prestigious fund raising event promotes the leadership mission and spirit of the Scouting Programs in Northern Lights Council, an area that extends from Innisfail to the N.W.T. Our council supports 210 community groups with more than 7,000 youth and adult members.

Scouter John Woodcock, past Northern Lights Council Commissioner (2007-2011) has gone home on Friday, March 16, 2012.

John was a true leader of Scouting. He will always be remembered. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
