Benefits of Training

Apart from the learning, the centre of any training course is the friendships, sharing of ideas, personal growth, countless experiences, and just the amazing camaraderie you will develop with your fellow Scouters. A well-known fact is that trained leaders stay in scouting far longer than leaders who have not taken training.

Our training courses have benefits outside of Scouting too as several of our courses such as our Woodbadge courses, Advanced Trainer courses, and our skills courses are recognize by many employers.

Our Commitment to Scouters

Of course, we would much rather have you take one of our residential training sessions, but we know that juggling family and other commitments can be an obstacle in taking courses. In understanding of your needs, Scouts Canada now offers e-Learning for individuals unable to attend local training, and we, the Fraser Valley Council, commit to not canceling course offerings. We will run a course, whatever our numbers. Our trainers are here to help you become a better Scouter. Tell us what you need to perform your Scouting role, and we will make it happen.

Youth 14- years-old and older are encouraged to take Woodbadge and Trainer training. Youth who have taken our Woodbadge courses are now excellent Section leaders and some of these youth are participating in training new Scouters. This not only enriches their development but also enriches the Scouting experience for all.

I invite you to come and take training and  enlarge your outer circle!

Your Deputy Council Commissioner for Training,
DeEtte Bryce.
