Area Commissioner: Sherrill McGilvray, smcgilvray@shaw.ca
Welcome to the Beaver Hills Area Web Site. The Beaver Hills area consists of most of southeast Edmonton (including Mill Woods, Strathearn, Bonnie Doon, Ottewell, Capilano, Gold Bar and extends outwards to Beaumont, New Norway, Camrose, Tofield, and Sherwood Park plus all areas in between). The largest and most active area in the Northern Lights Council, with nearly a thousand youth and almost 400 adult volunteers, as seen below the area includes 32 groups providing extensive leadership and outdoor opportunities for all. Many groups provide the chance to participate in local, provincial, national and international events, service projects and humanitarian ventures.
Youth have the opportunity to get outdoors, have fun, and develop their leadership potential. Scouting is an ideal program for entire families to get involved with as well. There are numerous opportunities for adults to join the fun too and we are actively recruiting and accepting new members all year round. Everyone has skills or talents to share so please consider helping create a better world by thinking globally and acting locally. To join a group in the Beaver Hills Area or to find out what opportunities might be available for you, please contact the Area Commissioner.
BEAVER HILLS CUBOREE 2012
Date: May 25 - 27, 2012
(Groups have the option of coming for the weekend or just for Saturday)
Location: Edmonton Police Association Camp
“BLUE MEADOWS”
(South West Outskirts of City)
The Beaver Hills Cuboree is the “Ultimate Weekend Jamboree for Cubs and White Tail Beavers” and is open to all Cub Packs in the Northern Lights Council. There is a limited amount of space at the camp, and therefore the first Groups registered and Groups providing Offer of Service, will come first.
This Cuboree is a fun filled event with challenging programs, games and crafts.
With the location on the outskirts of the city, this camp provides an opportunity for the first time campers to experience camping and learn from long time campers.
Each Cub Pack must be self contained – they will supply all their required tents, food and cooking facilities and equipment.
The programs will be run by Offer of Service Scouts, Ventures, Leaders and Elk Island National Park staff.
The Beaver Hills Cuboree is planning to run a Woodbadge I for Cubs. Please let us know if your group is interested.
The next meeting is: Registration meeting
Date: April 21, 2012.
Time: 11:00 to 12:00.
Location: at St Paul’s Church on the corner of 50th Street and Ellerslie Road.
