An advanced level for section Scouters who desire superior knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to be able to motivate and lead in the delivery of a quality program. The focus is on a different skill set, including leadership abilities and the more highly developed skills leaders need to take their program to an advanced level.
Learning outcomes are geared to providing the skills and knowledge to effectively administer the section and run stimulating section programs. Emphasis is placed on planning varied programs, especially outdoor activities. Other topics encourage an understanding of Scouting's values and philosophy and its application through the program for the development of our youth.
Total training time is about 50 hours and can be delivered in a variety of formats from 3 weekends to week long camps for candidates and their families.
Prerequisite for this level is completion of the Wood Badge Part I Program recognition.
When competencies are demonstrated with a qualified coach, and the checklist processed by Council, recognition for this level of competence is the Wood Badge Necker and Beads.
For those leaders who have completed Wood Badge I and/or II in a section, and move to another section, a repeat of the whole training program is unnecessary to complete Wood Badge requirements in a new section. Contact the DCC Volunteer Development and Training for specifics.
The Wood Badge I and II Program is the beginning of one pathway leading to accreditation as a Scouts Canada Trainer.
